How did Lottotech win the contract to Operate Loterie Nationale?

Following the Request for Proposal issued in March 2008 by the State Investment Corporation (SIC), Lottotech submitted its proposal and was selected in July 2008 as the preferred bidder for the implementation and operation of the Mauritius National Lottery on behalf of the Government of Mauritius.

Who are the shareholders of Lottotech?

In April 2009, Gamma entered into a shareholders’ agreement with the SIC for Lottotech to implement and operate the Mauritius National Lottery and SIC became a shareholder of Lottotech. The agreement stipulates that the parties shall cause Lottotech to obtain the license to operate the Mauritius National Lottery and they shall not directly or indirectly compete with Lottotech.

How can I buy the shares of Lottotech?

Shares of Lottotech Ltd. can be purchased by contacting any of the licensed investment dealers listed here.

Having consulted the Listing Particulars available here, applicants for the Offer for Sale should apply for the ordinary shares by filling in and signing the “Application Form for the Offer for Sale”. The respective form must be returned with the payment of MUR10 per ordinary share applied for to any licensed investment dealer not later than 4:00 pm on 16 May 2014. Acceptances are irrevocable and may not be withdrawn.

Loterie Nationale

How are the lottery numbers drawn?

The Loto is a draw conducted on a weekly basis, every Saturday night whereby 6 balls are drawn out of 40 balls. The draw procedures are carried out in strict accordance with established laws as well as security standards to ensure the integrity of our system and processes. A draw team comprising of internal officials and members of the Gambling Regulatory Authority are present during each draw.

Draw procedures governing draws are documented in written form and approved by the GRA and the GRA representative must attest that each drawing is conducted according to written procedures.

Can I buy Loto via my mobile?

No. Lottotech does not offer the sale of Lottery tickets via mobile. Tickets must be purchased from any of the more than 900 authorised Lottery retailers in Mauritius and Rodrigues.

However, you can get the Loto results via SMS (for Orange subscribers) by sending “Loto” on 789 (Cost of sms Rs 1 + VAT).

How do I claim a prize?

Congratulations!   To claim your prize, complete the required information on your ticket and it is important that you sign at the back of your ticket. Take it to an official Loterie Nationale Retailer for all prizes of Rs 2,000 or less.  Prizes greater than Rs 2,000 must be claimed at Loterie Nationale Headquarters or at an authorised agent. The list of retailers who can pay up to Rs 10,000 are available on the Loterie Nationale website www.loterienationale.mu. You should bring along your national identity card or your passport.

Where can I find lottery draw results?

Draw results are available by visiting the Loterie Nationale website www.loterienationale.mu, or by calling our Service Support Department at 403 7100.

Where do the lottery draws take place?

Loterie Nationale draws are conducted in the studio of Loterie Nationale at Ebene. The public is welcome to attend to see how the Loto draw occurs. You should contact our service support department at 4037100 to find out how to attend a draw.

Do I have to pay tax on Loto and Instant tickets prizes?

Loto and instant tickets winnings are tax-free in Mauritius.

How much time do I have to claim a lottery prize?

Holders of winning Loto tickets, have up to six months from the draw date to claim their prize while those of Instant tickets have 3 months from the date of closure of the game.

I am visiting Mauritius can I purchase Loterie Nationale products?

If you are 18 years of age or older and are visiting the country, you may purchase our lottery products.

How long do I have to purchase my Loto ticket?

Sales are cut off at 10 p.m. everyday. However, you cannot play Loto on draw days from 7 to 9 pm, as this is the time for the draw procedures. However, the time you can play Loto will depend on the opening hours of our retailers.

What happens to unclaimed lottery prizes?

Unclaimed lottery prizes are those prizes that are not successfully claimed prior to the lottery ticket's expiration. All unclaimed prizes are retained by Lottotech and ultimately transferred to the National Solidarity Fund, which finance assistance to citizens of Mauritius who may require surgical operations which can only be performed in private medical institutions in Mauritius, (approved by the Ministry of Health); and financial assistance directly to individuals who have undergone Severe Personal Hardship (needy students, victims of natural calamities etc.).

Why do I have to sign my ticket before I validate it?

Signing the back of your ticket provides greater protection for both the player and retailer by confirming ticket ownership prior to validation or redemption. The ticket must be signed before it can be validated.
