FAQ
The Loto will increase to 30 rupees and the Loto+ to 20 rupees starting from December 18. The new jackpots will start at around 8 million rupees and 5 million rupees respectively.
More chances, more dreams, more moments to enjoy
1. What is changing?
For the first time since 2009, Lottotech is increasing the minimum jackpot, the match 3 winnings and the price per bet.
• The Loto minimum jackpot will now start at around Rs 8 million (instead of Rs 5 million).
• The Loto Plus minimum jackpot will now start at around Rs 5 million (instead of Rs 3 million).
• The price per bet becomes Rs 30 for Loto and Rs 20 for Loto Plus.
• The payout for 3 winning numbers increases to Rs 150 for Loto and Rs 100 for Loto Plus.
2. Why are these changes being made now?
The price of a Loto bet has remained at Rs 20 since 2009, even as operational, technology, printing and logistics costs have steadily increased. Players have also expressed that a Rs 5 million starting jackpot is no longer as attractive as it was 16 years ago.
This update allows us to refresh the game, offer a more exciting base jackpot and ensure that Loto remains sustainable and valuable for all players over the long term.
3. What are the benefits?
For players:
• Higher starting jackpots for both Loto and Loto Plus
• Better value through improved prizes and a more sustainable game
For retailers:
• Higher jackpots usually boost participation
• More sales opportunities and higher potential commissions
For the country:
• Increased participation means higher contributions to the Consolidated Fund and the National Solidarity Fund
• More support for community, cultural, health, sports and environmental projects
For NGOs:
• More participation allows increased support to NGOs
4. Has the jackpot ever increased before?
No. This is the first increase in the minimum Loto jackpot since 2009.
5. Are there changes to the rules or format?
No. The draw process and all transparency measures remain the same. Only the minimum jackpot, price per bet and payout for 3 numbers have been updated.
6. How does this benefit Mauritius?
Each draw contributes to government and community funds. A sustainable Loto ensures continued support to national initiatives while offering safe and responsible entertainment.
7. How will players be informed?
Through:
• Official press announcements
• Lottotech’s website and social media
• Communications in all authorised retail outlets
Always refer to official Lottotech channels for accurate information.
8. If I played before the price change and won 3 numbers, do I get the new payout?
No. New prices and payouts apply only to tickets played from 18 December onwards.
9. Are old coupons still valid?
Yes, but they will be updated in the coming weeks. Players are encouraged to exchange old coupons so they are no longer in circulation.
10. Can I replay using an old ticket?
Yes. The new prices and payouts will apply automatically to all replay tickets.
11. Will the sales between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday 17 September be at the new price?
No. Sales will pause between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sales with the new prices resume on the morning of 18 December.
12. When will Advance Wagering be available?
Advance Wagering will be launched in the coming weeks. We will inform the public once the official date is confirmed.
13. Will the Loto jackpot increase by Rs 3 million after each draw?
The jackpot increase depends on several factors. The new structure simply allows us to offer more attractive jackpots, starting with a strong base of Rs 8 million.
To play Loto, you must select 6 numbers out of 40, using a pencil or a black pen. The Loto game bulletin consists of either 5 or 10 grids, each containing 40 numbers. The bet currently costs Rs 20; however, as from 18 December 2025, it will be priced at Rs 30.
You can also play your desired numbers for multiple draws, by choosing the number of draws wanted, at the top right of the bulletin.
Moreover, you can choose the “Quick Pick” option, where the machine will choose 6 random numbers for you.
Give your bulletin to an official Lottotech retailer, as well as your payment. He will validate your bet and will give you an official ticket.
The draws are performed each Wednesday and Saturday after game closure at 7 p.m.
Game closes at 7p.m each Wednesday and Saturday.
“Jeux Multiples” is a simple and rapid way of playing several combinations. Instead of using many bulletins to play different combinations, you can use a “bulletin multiple” and choose between the multiples of 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. The system will then generate the possible combinations with your chosen number.
“Replay” option allows you to replay your favorite numbers or those you previously played without having to fill another bulletin. All you have to do is give your previous ticket to the Lottotech’s retailer and ask him for a Replay.
You need to present your ticket to an official retailer of Lottotech for any prize inferior to Rs 2000. For prizes which are superior to Rs 2000, you are requested to go to an allowed retailer or at the official Lottotech office. You must bring your national identity card or a valid passport.
Congratulations! To claim the jackpot, you must go to the Lottotech’s office with your identity card. Our team will clearly explain all the procedures to you and verifications will be made as specified in the payment procedure validated by the GRA.
When claiming the jackpot you will be asked to present your winning ticket, your national identity card or a valid passport, as well as your bank account number..
For sure. Winners have the right to remain anonymous if they want to.
